The dates came from Greg Beeman in his new blog post [after nine months being gone].
Another advantage we have had in coming back so far ahead of the air dates is that we will be able to get nicely ahead with episodes. We start with two hours of HEROES on September 22 – and then we will be airing new episodes every Monday for 11 straight weeks. It is very important to Tim that this first volume of thirteen, which we’re calling “VILLIANS” is a distinct storyline that begins, builds and concludes.
So, first two episodes on the 22nd, and 11 more in a row after that.
Heroes comes back Monday, 8/7c!
Heroes comes back in less than one week! Below is an email sent yesterday from 9th Wonders.
As you may know, the new season of Heroes will be premiering on Monday, September 22, 2008 on NBC. This is a THREE hour event beginning at 8/7c with a one hour compilation show and concluding with two brand new episodes of Heroes in a new Volume (13 episode story arc) called Villains. Don’t miss the compilation show! It will include some previously unseen footage.
Many fans were disappointed with the strike-shortened second season and Heroes creator Tim Kring acknowledges mistakes were made, that he’s learned from those mistakes and that the forthcoming series will “be the most intense, the scariest, the most thrilling HEROES can be right from the very start”.
There are new features at 9thWonders, including direct links to Beeman’s Blog (Greg Beeman, Director/Producer of Heroes), The Global Couch (Jesse Alexander’s blog, Writer/Producer of Heroes) and a 9thWonders exclusive, “Ask Heroes!”. This is where you, the fan, get to submit questions to the creative team of Heroes who answer them by video.
Updates:
NBCUMV made a news release stating the “compilation show” has been renamed to “NBC SPECIALS”, “HEROES: COUNTDOWN TO THE PREMIERE”.
If you missed the season opener on Monday, don’t panic! There will also be a re-run of the premeire on Saturday, September 27, at 8pm PST (East coasters, check your TV schedules for the time). The countdown show and episodes are also posted on NBC Video Rewind and Hulu:
NBC Video Rewind: Premiere Party | The Second Coming | The Butterfly Effect
Hulu: Premiere Party | The Second Coming | The Butterfly Effect
Volume 3: ‘Villains’ Premieres on Sept. 22
Update [6/4]: It’s official. The third season of Heroes will debut on Monday, September 22 at 9/8c.
Update [5/27]: NBC’s Primetime 2008-2009 Schedule clearly shows that all shows will start on the week of September 8. However, several non-NBC sites have the premiere date set for September 15 or 22. It’s still months away, so just double check on NBC’s schedule in late August.

Update [5/11]: The trailer for Volume 3: Villains is out now! It’s embedded below:
