“Heroes” Console Game Canceled

GameDaily.com is reporting that video game maker, Ubisoft, have decided to cancel the oft forgotten Heroes console/PC game.

Although many of you have probably forgotten that this title was even in the works – it was announced back in July 2007 – fans of the popular NBC television series Heroes no doubt would have been curious to see what a game based on their favorite powered-up characters would be like. Well, it’s not happening… at least not from Ubisoft.

The French publisher confirmed with MTV Multiplayer today that it’s abandoned its plans for the title. “The rights to the Heroes video game have reverted back to NBC Universal. Ubisoft will no longer produce a video game based on the TV series,” a spokesperson for Ubisoft stated.

The game had originally been slated to launch late in 2008, but perhaps it’s for the best. Ubisoft hasn’t exactly proven itself to be capable when it comes to creating good video games based on TV shows. Both ABC’s Lost and CBS’ CSI were given the game treatment by Ubisoft and the results were not good.

That’s too bad. It’s also a shame they didn’t rush this when the show was in it’s first season. I think it could have been great!

Heroes vs X-Men

UnrealityMag.com has our Heroes battling the X-Men.

There has been much debate since Heroes‘ debut of exactly how much it has ripped off the X-Men for characters, plot point, powers, etc. Though the X-Men can’t claim ownership of the whole super mutant concept, it is a bit shaky as more and more heroes show up with even more Marvel created abilities.

Because of the similarities and ongoing feud, I wanted to orchestrate a universe-crossing battle with each hero pitted against the mutant whose powers they ripped off borrowed for the show. The battle lasts ten rounds, and after the dust settles we’ll see who comes out on top.

So, who will come out on top? Hit up unrealitymag.com to find out.

HeroesWiki Interview with Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, and Ken Lally

Ryan Gibson Stewart of HeroesWiki fame emailed to let us know he recently interviewed Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine

I wanted to let you know about my most recent interview. I spoke with Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, the actor who portrays Usutu, the African painter. He also played the leader of the terrorist cell in the the unaired pilot. What a difference in roles!

The link is Interview:Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine. Check it out and read Ntare has to say about the paintings, his character’s power to see the future, and of course, hyena dung!

Why don’t you tell me your take on the character you play now.
Usutu is basically at the opposite end of the spectrum as Joseph. He is sort of serving as a spiritual guide for the characters he has interacted with so far. Maybe it’s best to quote Tim Kring. I asked him how he saw the character, and he said he saw him as a Yoda-like figure. That actually gave me a lot of insight as to how he saw the character and the role he plays in terms of heroes and villains. He is one who tries to pull people to him for the forces of good.

HeroesWiki has also conducted an interview with Ken Lally, who played the German this season. It can be read here.

Was the Right Path Taken? This question plagues (and I mean totally pelts) our Heroes. Much of this show, since Episode 1 has been the questioning of choices. And ultimately that is what life is about. The writers not only keep us on our toes about where the season is going, but brings us in closer, by giving us themes we can all relate to. Long Winding Paths, losing our way, forging our own courses guided by faith to find a kindred soul, seeking solace in the arms of another, or even removing ourselves from a path to avoid temptation, in some form or another the Heroes journey just as we do. Okay, philosophical, deep chatter done, onwards and upwards!
