Comic Con Updates and Heroes: Origins
As anyone who went to the Heroes panel at Comic Con knows, the first episode of the Heroes spin-off Heroes: Origins will be directed by everyone’s favorite, Kevin Smith! I’m really psyched about this, as i’m a pretty big fan of his. I’ve been waiting for him to get to direct something other than his own movies [which I love], like Halo or anything else he’s been rumored to take the helm.

Zap2It reports:
“Heroes” creator Tim Kring shocked and gratified not only Comic-Con fans but his own cast when he announced who would be writing and directing an episode of the offshoot anthology series “Origins.”
“Clerks” filmmaker Kevin Smith brought the crowd to its feet and caused one of the “Heroes” actors to exclaim, “No way. Are you serious?”
So.. that’s pretty much the big news coming from the Heroes panel. HeroesRevealed has pretty good coverage of the whole Q&A session, and images of the Heroes booth. I’ll add more images as they come in.
Heroes Revealed also has posted a video of the Kevin Smith announcement. Pretty sweet! Check it out here.
And as they say, Heroes: Origins will run from April to May, with 6 episodes.
Comic and Mash-Up Finalists
The three finalists have been announced in the ‘Create Your Own Comic Book’ and ‘Mash Up Your Own Music Video’ contests that were running on the official site. The winners will be announced at Comic Con today.
Congratulations Finalists!
You’ve mixed, mashed, drawn, and colored… and now it’s time to announce our three finalists from each category! Even if you’re name’s not on “the list,” everyone who shared their amazing talents is still a Hero to us.Comic Book Finalists
Andrew Chandler

Time Unlined
Destiny Calls
Heroes Remix
If you view the comics, you’ll see more entries on the right side. And as for the Mash-Ups, I think Time Unlined is the best one. The video seems to flow with the music better, and there is less talking… at least until the music has slowed.
Check back here later for the winners.
Update: The winners are posted on the NBC site:
Comic Book Winner: Andrew Chandler
Music Video Winner: Henry Bragg
Oops
So, I made a huge mistake and forgot to pre-order my Comic-Con membership for Saturday, and now, they’re all sold out. There is a chance I may drive down there Saturday morning and see if they’ve got any at the door, but I don’t know if i’m willing to do that unless I know they’ll have some at the door. I thought I remember reading something that they might not even have any at the door.
So, let me know how it goes. If you’re going and can provide any information about the Heroes panel, please contact me! I’m looking for someone to go to the Heroes panel from 12:45-2:00 in Ballroom 20, and the TV Guide Hot List right before it from 11:30-12:30 in Ballroom 20. The TV Guide Hotlist will have Tim Kring and Masi Oka, among others. If you can manage to get your hands on one of the comics, please, I’ll do anything to get my hands on one, or even just scans of it.
So, my week is pretty much ruined!
Heroes Graphic Novel Cover from Comic Con
Thanks to DiegoG for the following image. It appears to our first look at the cover of the graphic novel that will be given out at this years Comic Con in San Diego at the end of this month.
Recognize it? You should. It’s the final page of graphic novel 34, The Death of Hana Gitelman created by our favorite graphic novel artist, Jason Badower.
I don’t know what’s going to be required to be able to get one of these… do any of you know? I think I remember reading that last year they gave out pins randomly and if you got an Uluru pin, you got a comic also.
SD Comic-Con Live on G4
It has been noted over at 9th Wonders that G4 will broadcast this year’s San Diego Comic-Con LIVE on July 26 and 27 at 7pm ET.
It sounds like it’s on Cable TV, because G4 is available from these providers.
As a reminder, Heroes is scheduled for the Saturday event.
