Up late tonight, so I might as well add my thoughts to yours as you guys take a perusal through the GN. Remember, if our site’s template hasn’t updated the GN yet, you can just take last week’s PDF and easter egg link and increase the chapter number by one to get this week’s stuff.
We have Alitha Martinez to thank for this and last week’s GN and they’re absolutely stunning in terms of artwork. I just have to take a moment aside to say that I’m a big fan. It’s like a breath of fresh air after all the hyper skinny chicks. In my mind, all the women portrayed in this week’s GN is much more attractive.
The ending gives us a horrible TBC cliffhanger and we don’t really know when this story will pick up again. Volume three starts soon, so maybe this story line will be wrapped up on the TV series? We’ll just have to wait and see as we usually do.

A mysterious force dubbed Evs Dropper has torn the Company in half, drawing a line between the human and special agents. New recruit Donna Dunlap has been accused of working with Evs Dropper and held prisoner. Outside her cell, a storm is brewing for what could be a deadly showdown…
So, who do we have in that last panel?
I can definitely tell Connie Logan is there on the left. Then unknown female in the middle, and a male on the right. Maybe that’s Penny in the middle? We know the male is not Gael because Donna can see them. Could it be Cushing? Maybe he’s not dead.

Woot, continuation story! Now we can see the aftermath of Sabine’s escape. The ambiguity of both Evs and the Company’s motives and intent is really thrilling. It’s almost like a Tarantino movie, where the lines of morality and ethics are blurred and you can find yourself cheering for a “bad” guy. I suppose we’ll know how we feel about the whole a bit better once we can put a face to Ev’s name.
As I mentioned before, I love tie-ins. I especially love how tidbits of information become important later on (Douglas Adams being one of my favourite author). In this GN, we once again see the importance of trust, which Thompson talked about a while back, and how everything falls apart once seeds of distrust are sown and segregation sets in.
While this story arc will probably not touch upon where Sabine and Julien ran off to, I’m hoping that we’ll learn about them later. Hopefully, they’ll bump into Evs and we’ll be able to see him/her without shadows covering his/her face.

Donna Dunlap was recruited as a Company agent but fell into allegiance with a force known as Evs Dropper who was working to bring down the Company. Donna severed her ties with Evs but the damage was already done. Evs Dropper has been responsible for several deaths, including Patterson, Bianca’s partner. Gael and Bianca learned that Patterson’s death came at the hands of “The German”, a special who had been given Company files by Evs.

Mmmmm….tie-ins, they are very delicious. These are the kinds of Graphic Novels that should be released. I guess that, for some reason or another, I just like being rewarded for the extra spans of attention I give them. The reward that I crave the most is actually knowing more about the series than the average fan that just watches the TV series. Call it nerdy one-upmanship or what have you, but I really like this story arc and I hope we get more of the same.
So now we have an exact timeline with everything. This GN spans a relatively long span of time and shows that Daphne has been in the game for a bit. The tie-in with mp3 crate puts her initial jobs 4 months before the present time of volume two. Donna joins the Company shortly after and Evs begins his/her work there as well. Some time either before or running parallel to volume two, Sabine and Julien leaves the company, Micah’s granny is bagged, Devin dies, and the kill squad is formed. The ending panels of this GN brings us up to present time for volume three.
I can’t wait for the shows to start. Hiro’s still my favourite character and it looks like we’ll be getting lots of him again, which is good, and without ancient Japan, which is double plus good. Hit the jump for the page by page.
