HeroesWiki Interviews Chris Hanada and Tanner Kling

Sorry the site has been slow lately. The reasons for this are two-fold:

  1. We don’t post spoilers, and that’s just about all there is in the Heroes world right now.

  2. I’ve been busy doing whatever it is that my wife tells me to do. That and playing dad to our five year old and 3 month old.

Thankfully, friend-of-HeroesARG, RyanGibsonStewart over at HeroesWiki recently conducted an interview with the directors of the webisode series ‘Nowhere Man’, and co-founders of Retrofit Films. In addition to the Heroes webisodes, Retrofit Films has produced mobisode content for My Own Worst Enemy and Gossip Girl, and webisodes and DVD content for Smallville. Retrofit also produced the gamisode ‘The Rook’ for Adidas.

How long did the filming process take to complete? Can you tell us about some of the longer days of filming? What was the hardest scene in Nowhere Man to direct?

The series was shot in two days and they both felt very long, but we rarely went into OT (overtime) and, if we did, it was only an hour or so. We had a great AD (Assistant Director) in Kristin Mente, who made sure we stuck to our schedule.

It’s funny, but I think the hardest scene to film was probably the scene in the supply room where Lauren meets Jason for the first time. The room we shot in was extremely small and the blocking was difficult to shoot in a small amount of time while getting the coverage we wanted.

You can read the rest of the Q&A over at HeroesWiki.com. And if you missed it, you can check out the interview Ryan did with the writers of Nowhere Man, Jim Martin and Timm Keppler.

Heroes WILL be at Comic Con!!!!111one!

I doubt it’s because of the bitching i’ve been doing all over the net for the past two hours, as my wife says, but the timing is suspcious. About 5 minutes ago eOnline updated their Comic-Con TV-Show Panel Schedule post, saying,

Heroes is now planning a small panel for Saturday with Tim Kring and some of the cast, but not all.

There have been different rumors over the last two weeks: Yes there would be a panel, no there would not be a panel, no Heroes presence at all at SDCC, etc. Tim Kring was quoted by the Chicago Tribune as saying that he and a few others would be there, but there was nothing else that said the same thing that wasn’t just quoting that CT article.

We’ll update once we find out a time and more info.

‘Heroes’ Magazine, Issue 10, now on sale!

vol13_coverI know, we’re late posting this. Also, NBC is calling it Issue 13 for some reason, it’s actually issue 10. It actually went on sale in the US and Canada on May 19th. Here are some items we’ve found around the net…

Adrian Pasdar interview

A consummate professional whose extensive credits include Top Gun, Carlito’s Way, Profit, Mysterious Ways, Judging Amy, and Desperate Housewives, Pasdar still gets excited when he reads through a Heroes script.

“[I get excited] in different ways [about the Heroes scripts], but it does change,” explains Pasdar.

Masi Oka interview

Oka isn’t giving away much about what new powers he might be getting. “It’ll be interesting,” he teases. “He will get his power back - that’s inevitable - but we’ll wait to see what it is.”

Bryan Fuller interview

“I’ve had very direct conversations with Tim [Kring, Heroes creator] in terms of what my role is. I was very honest with him and said, ‘I don’t want to take over your show. I just want to contribute to the show and help it be as good as it can be again.’ When I read the pilot two or three years ago and the rest of the first season, I was just very excited about the world and opportunities to tell stories with the characters. I loved how clean the metaphors of the people’s abilities were. I got inspired reading that pilot. I wanted to write Claire and I ended up writing a lot of Claire stuff in the first half of the season before I went to write Daisies, and then I came back for the season one episode, Company Man. It doesn’t feel terribly unfamiliar or awkward, but it feels like I am jumping back onto the show when the pendulum is swinging up again, and that’s really exciting.

Commentary GN 139 - Rebellion Part 4

First off, I apologize for being absent for a few weeks. I had a lot of work and some personal issues to resolve. I’m Baaaack and what better way to start off than to recap an Oliver Grigsby, Jason Badower novel. I must say Jason loves drawing women and is very good at it! As I have stated before, he is also one of the best artists at capturing the actors’ images. Oliver weaves a story behind the story as we see that Peter and Matt not only were looking for Daphne but helped Micah search for his grandmother (Nana) and Monica. Damon(micah’s cousin) is apparently not powered but was taken by mistake.

While Matt is getting caught in episode “Exposed”, Micah leads another team on the search for Nana and Monica. Abby, West and Sparrow rescue Nana and Damon but not Monica.

We are left with the image of Micah in the sights of a sniper and a gunshot sound. Now we know from the series that Micah is still alive later so he obviously isn’t shot. Is the gunshot the work of one of his team shooting the sniper? Is it a miss? Tune in on June 15 to find out!

I am not going to do separate reviews for the three parts of Rebellion I have missed. So here is my highlights.
Rebellion 1 - GN 136 - I loved Monica and Micah helping the city of New Orleans! We learn that Flint, Sparrow, Monica and Nana were on the plane that crashed. He watches the plane crash and becomes - “REBEL” by erasing some of the information about the people on the plane.
Rebellion 2 - GN 137 - Remember that person sucked out of the plane when Peter broke through the wall? Well it was Sparrow Redhouse who we finally get to see in full glory. She has earth power which is very messy. In a surprising move, Flint dies when his head is blown off by the agents when he tried to turn traitor. Micah and Sparrow escape and the team begins to form. Next to join is Claire.
I liked Zach and Denis’ work on these novels, capturing Micah’s tortured emotions and plausibly building the team.
Rebellion 3 - GN 138 - Loved this one as I am sure Tarot did. Oliver and Badower are my favorite w/a team and what better way to start things off than with Claude protecting Lee while having Micah save Abby (who shares the name of my 4 year old) Abby’s powers are finely tuned and she is able to protect West and Sparrow and now the team is 4 (with Claire the 5th but not knowing it yet).

Till next time!
